Pathivara Devi temple, located in the Taplejung district of Nepal, is one of the most important temples of Hindus. Situated on the hill of Taplejung, at an altitude of 3,794 meters, Pathivara Devi or Mukkumlung (as mentioned in Mundhum of Limbu people) is the most significant temple in Nepal. It is also considered the holy place of the Limbu people.

The temple is named Pathivara as the shape of the temple is like ‘Pathi’. Pathi means a grain container. Located in a remote area, this temple is difficult to travel in snowfall and rainy seasons.

The distance between Kathmandu and Taplejung is about 680 Km. One has to travel 235 km from Birtamod to reach Pathivara temple. Similarly, the distance from Ilam Bazar to Taplejung Bazar is about 6 hours or about 163 km.
One has to walk from Kafle Pati to reach Pathibhara Temple. There is the facility of porter or Horses.

How to reach Pathibhara Temple from Taplejung/Phungling Bazaar?
Most of the devotees start the journey from Phungling Bazaar which takes about 2 hours to reach the Kafle Pati. Similarly, a few hours of the walk is required to reach this hilltop temple of Goddess Pathibhara, Devotees also start their journey from Suketar which takes about 20 minutes to reach Phungling Bazaar.
